Day One

Arrival. One flourish, then nothing asked of them.

The thinking

Your guests will have flown overnight and will be tired in a way they will not admit to. So Day One does one thing beautifully and then leaves them alone.

They are met at the aircraft door in Russian, they never see a queue, and twenty minutes after landing they are in the air over Table Mountain. By the time they reach the house their luggage is already in their rooms and lunch is laid. Nothing else is scheduled. The afternoon, the beach and the terrace are theirs.

The common mistake is to put something impressive on the first evening. It lands on people too tired to receive it, and it spends a moment that would have been worth twice as much on Day Two.
