Most hotels in Cape Town look at the sea. This one sits in it.
The Radisson Collection stands on the rocks at Granger Bay, at the very edge of the Atlantic, beside a little private marina and a few minutes from the V&A Waterfront. You fall asleep to the sound of the waves breaking below, and wake to Table Mountain in the morning light.
It is a calm, easy place to begin a journey: close enough to walk to the harbour, Robben Island and the restaurants of the Waterfront, and far enough out on the water to feel like an escape. On the terrace at Tobago's, guests are sometimes treated to dolphins passing by. What they do is up to them.

Rooms over the Atlantic
Every room has a king or two twin beds. For the full effect, ask for the ocean.
Collection rooms
Ocean, marina or mountain
Calm, well-made rooms looking over the sea, the marina or towards Table Mountain, several with their own balcony.
Junior Suites
Balcony and ocean
More space, a sitting area and a balcony over the water. The ones to choose for a longer stay.
The suites
For families and celebrations
Ocean-view suites with balconies, up to the Presidential Suite: two bedrooms and the whole bay in front of you.

Tobago's, above the waves
Breakfast, lunch and dinner on a terrace right over the sea, with a menu from Chef Grant Cullingworth and a good list of Cape wines. At sunset it is one of the loveliest places in the city for a glass of something.

The pool and the Amani Spa
An infinity pool that seems to run straight into the sea, and a spa with eleven treatment rooms, two couples' suites, a salt room, a Rasul chamber and a heated vitality pool. The gym is open around the clock.

Robben Island
The ferries leave from the Waterfront, a few minutes away, for the island where Nelson Mandela spent eighteen of his twenty-seven years in prison.
Table Mountain
Up by cable car on a clear morning, with the whole of the city and both oceans laid out below.
The Promenade
The Sea Point Promenade begins just along the coast: a long, easy walk by the ocean at any hour.
The peninsula
Out over Chapman's Peak to the Cape of Good Hope, and home past the penguins at Boulders.
