There is nowhere else in Cape Town quite like it. Tintswalo sits right on the rocks at the foot of Chapman's Peak, with the sea a few steps below your deck and the Sentinel standing across the bay.
It is the only hotel allowed to operate inside Table Mountain National Park, and it feels it. There is no road outside your door, only the mountain behind and the Atlantic in front. Seals play in the kelp, dolphins pass through the bay, and from July to November you may see whales come in close to the shore. What they do is up to them.
It is small, just ten suites, and quiet in the way only a place at the end of the road can be. And yet the city, the winelands and Cape Point are all within easy reach.

Before you arrive

A suite named after an island
Every suite faces the ocean, and each is dressed after a different island of the world, from Robben Island to Lamu and Ithaca.
The Island Suites
Eight suites on the water
A king bed (twins on request), a bath and a separate shower, a wood-burning fireplace, and a wooden deck right above the sea.
The two-bedroom suite
For families and friends
Two bedrooms around a central lounge, with the same view across the bay. Children of all ages are welcome.
The whole lodge
Exclusive use, up to 20 guests
All ten suites, the restaurant, the pool and the spa for your party alone: a house party on the edge of the Atlantic.
The bay, the mountain and the table
Sundowners
Every evening, canapés and the cocktail of the day as the light goes gold on the Sentinel. They are part of your stay.
The table
Chefs Warehouse at Tintswalo, from Liam Tomlin and chef Braam Beyers: a four-course menu of sharing plates, served over the water.
The bay
We can arrange diving or snorkelling with the seals off the Sentinel, a boat out to Seal Island, or a walk along the harbour in Hout Bay.
Chapman's Peak and Cape Point
The great coastal road begins at your door, and leads on to the Cape of Good Hope and the penguins at Boulders.
Slowing down
The spa, the heated pool, and a hammock on the sun deck with nothing to do but watch the water.
The mountain at your back, the sea at your feet.
Before you go
Where
On Chapman's Peak Drive, Hout Bay, about 30 minutes from the city and the V&A Waterfront. We arrange every transfer.
Included
Breakfast, sunset canapés with the cocktail of the day, Wi-Fi and a welcome bottle of wine. Lunch, dinner and other drinks are extra.
The road
Chapman's Peak Drive sometimes closes after storms or rockfalls. When it does, we simply come round the other way.
Families
Children of all ages are welcome; the two-bedroom suite works especially well.
Pairs well with
Table Mountain, Constantia's wine estates, Cape Point, and the whales of Walker Bay further along the coast.
